As part of this year's London Design Festival, the team at Morrama are excited to invite you to a special event at Hackney Depot. For two days, we’ll be opening the doors of our award-winning design studio. This is your chance to meet the team, explore behind the scenes, and dive into our day-to-day projects. You’ll also get to learn more about the Morrama Lab, where we experiment with future-facing design concepts, and be the first to see the results of some of our groundbreaking projects from over the past nine years.
Exhibition & Talks: Insights from Morrama
At the heart of our event will be an exhibition showcasing our past and present work hosted at the Morrama office; an ex-TFL Bus depot and office, flooded with natural light and interesting architectural features. During Thursday afternoon, our founder Jo will host a series of conversations, providing a deeper understanding of our design philosophy and the impact we strive to make in the world.
Conversation 1: "Talking of Sustainability..."
Founder, Jo Barnard, Creative Lead, Léa Berger and special guest Insiya Jafferjee, co-founder of material innovation company Shellworks dive into the importance of design and storytelling in making sustainability desirable.
Conversation 2: "The Importance of Play"
Design has the power to shape the future. This conversation with Jo Barnard, Design Lead, Ben Melvin and special guest Lex Fefegha, creative coder at Google will discuss how speculative design, play and experimentation are vital tools for staying ahead in the industry.
We encourage audience participation, so bring your questions.
Networking and Hands-On Experiences
Beyond the talks, this is your chance to connect with the Morrama team and other industry professionals. Plus we’ll also have a hands-on workshop area where you can build your own Kibu headphones. A perfect opportunity to explore design in a tactile, creative way. Our exhibition will be open throughout the event, giving you plenty of time to explore our work and ideas at your own pace.
Party
No event is complete without a celebration, and we’ve got you covered. On Thursday evening, join us for drinks, food provided by Wagamama, and live DJ sets. This is the perfect setting to continue the conversation, meet new people, and celebrate all things design.
